The corner toward you

Turn the box so no face is parallel to the picture plane. Verticals stay vertical. Everything else runs to one of two points.

The near edge is vertical. Both points share eye level, and they stay far apart.
  1. 1

    Near vertical first

The closest edge is a true vertical, and it is the only edge at true height. Draw it before the sides.

  2. 2

    Two points, one horizon

From the top and bottom of that edge, lines run left and right to vanishing points. Both points sit on eye level. If one is higher, the edge was not horizontal in the world.

  3. 3

    Give the points room

When the two points crowd together, the corner stretches. You are standing too close to the picture plane. Push the points apart until the angle feels calm.

Set eye level. Both vanishing points will have to live on it.
