Three languages
You do not need a rendering. You need three marks that cannot be mistaken for each other.
- 1
Concrete
A quiet stipple, or a few board-form lines with a stained edge. It is heavy, so the contour around it stays firm. Do not draw every aggregate.
- 2
Timber
Grain follows the member. On a board seen flat, lines run with the length. On an end grain, they become short arcs. Grain never ignores the cut.
- 3
Glass
Almost nothing. A thin frame, one or two reflections that obey the perspective of the pane, and the view through it drawn lighter than the frame.
Critique
Drill
Fill each panel with a mark that could not be swapped with the others.
